Ashmoor Men’s first team travelled to high-flying Swansea University with a skeleton squad after two late drop outs, but produce one of their best performances of the season, with their slick passing and good movement opening up the home defence many times.
From Ashmoor’s second penalty corner, Lewis Hammett slipped the ball to Jed Dixon, whose shot was saved, but the ball fell to Jack Dinnie, who slammed it home from a tight angle.
Despite chances at both ends, half-time came with the visitors still a goal up.
Early in the second half, Swansea levelled after a series of penalty corners.
Two minutes later, Ashmoor restored their lead when Dinnie played in Rich Ashworth, who finished neatly with a reverse-stick shot.
A precision pass from Jed Dixon found Jordan Teague and the striker made no mistake in making it 3-1 to the visitors.
From then on Ashmoor defended well, but could not stop Swan battling back to claim a draw.
The hosts were awarded a somewhat controversial penalty stroke, which was converted to make the score 3-2.
Ashmoor’s Jake Rhys-Brown was then shown a yellow card for a clumsy tackle, and while he was off the pitch, the hosts Swansea manage to force an equaliser.
Tomorrow, Ashmoor Men’s 1st XI play Exeter University in their final league match of the season.
