WITH Christmas fast approaching Newton Abbot Bowling Club will be holding their annual Christmas Party at the club on Saturday, December 13, writes David Pickett.
There will be a quiz, music and games and of course, the chance to catch up with fellow members who you may or may not of seen since the end of the outdoor season.
Members are invited to bring along Nibbles and of course the bar will be open for liquid refreshment.
Some members have kept in touch playing indoor bowls friendlies, which has taken some of us as far afield as Taunton Deane and closer to home at Torquay etc and of course, weekly short mat bowls.
After our AGM recently, Kate Kennedy took the time to thank everybody who has helped out and supported her throughout the summer season of her captaincy, in fulfilling friendly/tourist games too, which are the lifeblood of the club.
A special mention should go out to Kate for everything she does around the club and makes no self-praise for all that she does, well done Kate and good luck as she will also be club captain next season.
Thanks also go out to all members who have helped out and put in a lot of their time so as others can come and play the wonderful game of bowls.
Club member Dave Pickett was presented with his Devon Senior Vice Presidents Badge by the incoming Devon President Ray Parker at the Devon AGM held at Exeter Golf and Country Club- the role will lead to Dave becoming Devon Bowls President in 2027.
This just leaves me to wish members a very Merry Christmas and of course a prosperous new year on and off of the bowls green.
