Just three days later, the Senior Fours Championship held at Abbrook Park Bowling Club, yielded further success with Bitton edging out Crediton on a tense final end.

The Bitton Park Ladies will now represent Devon County in the Fours and Senior Fours competitions in the forthcoming National Finals at Leamington Spa between August 16 and 22. They all travel with our best wishes.

DAWLISH MARINA

12 teams took part in Marina’s club triples competition in early July. Advancing to next month’s final are B Maskell, G Nown & P Wilson and S Owen D Own & S Cheshire.

Marina have hosted a number of county competitions this year, from the ladies’ over 70s pair and ladies unbadged pairs to the county ladies 2-wood triples.

In the ladies’ over 70s pairs, D Kettley and S Cheshire won both the morning and afternoon games and went on to play the final on but unfortunately lost to a Bitton Park team.

On the evening of July 13, Marina hosted the Bowls England area final for the women’s Top Club, which consists a single, pairs, triple and rink. Nicole Roger’s played the singles and won 21-4. Nicole is world #4 in the English International lawn and indoor bowls.

They also had a lovely friendly away at Topsham, winning three out of four rinks and taking the overall victory too.

In other county games, one of their top lady bowlers Helen Wilson has won the unbadged singles section 5 and will now play out of section on August 9, at Plympton section 8.

The season is quickly coming to an end, just a month and a bit left with club finals at the end of August. It’s certainly been busy and has gone by in a flash.

In the Over 55’s X Division, Chudleigh remain in first place after picking up seven points at Newton Abbot, winning on one rink and drawing on the other. The final score being 33 to 29.

Chudleigh also continued their impressive form in their weekend friendlies. On Saturday, they defeated Pinces Park by 76 points to 56 points, winning on three rinks and drawing on the other.
