The ladies fared much better in the Triples Challenge at The Den, winning both rinks to gain six league points. Later the same day, the ladies won one rink to Starcross’ two in the SDL.
NEWTON ABBOT
Newton Abbot Bowls Club members Isobel Burley and Julia Barnes recently played in a Johns Match and they helped beat Somerset.
In a Grace Matthews Match at Bovey Tracey, the ladies won 3-2 on disciplines with the result in the balance right up until the last end of the rinks and indeed the very last wood!
The men’s A-team lost to a strong Shaldon side 14-0 in the MDL whilst the B-team have now lost two on the bounce after a strong start.
For the second time this season, Dave Pickett had the honour of playing for Bowls England in Dorset.
Dave, also with Catherine Pickett, Brian Waitman and John Palmer, played for the Devon Patrons at Abbrook Park.
Next up, Newton face a trip to Chagford for a friendly which is a very nice green, liked by all. The two already faced each other at Newton and so it’s nice for these double headers to help keep in touch with other clubs.
