South Dartmoor Community College, Ashburton, U16 boys' team produced an exceptional series of performances at the England Hockey National Indoor Hockey Finals to be crowned national champions for the first time in the college's history.

Playing at the Whitgift School venue, West of England Schools' champs South Dartmoor faced the best school teams in the country.

In the opening game, against Midland side Oakham, they got straight into their stride, with captain Seth Crosby scoring from two penalty corners, and Jed Dixon slotting home from close-range to make it 3-0 at half-time.

The coaches rotated the squad so that all players got quality pitch time in the second half, but except for a consolation goal for Oakham, the Ashburton school didn't let up.

Matt Lear got on the end of two clinical passes to find the net twice, and Crosby secured his hat-trick with a fine individual goal.
