ASHBURTON mark their long-awaited return to the B Division with a home game against near neighbours Bovey Tracey 2nd XI.

The Ashes have not played in the B Division since 1998, which is before the majority of the current side were born.

Getting into the B Division is tough at the best of times due to only one promotion place from each of the regional C Divisions. Staying up is just as hard as others have found out.

Lloyd White, the Ashburton captain, is setting realistic targets.

“We’ll be looking to be competitive in every single game,” said White.

Top of the recruitment list is Indian all-rounder Santosh Yadav, a left-arm quick and a strong batter.

“Santosh brings a wealth of experience to the side and, we believe, will be a fantastic addition to our campaign this season,” said White.
