WITH the road season nearing its final weeks, Mid Devon Cycling Club is shifting focus to hill climbing, with four riders starting this campaign.

Stoke Hill, hosted by Exeter Wheelers, saw Edward Farile-Whysall finish third overall and first junior in an impressive time of 4:55.8. Robin Delve completed the course in 6:23.9, Rob Harrison made his comeback after a break from the sport with a time of 6:27.0, and 12-year-old youth rider Jacob Cloes finished 2nd in the youth category.

Two riders headed off for the National Youth (GHS) Championship in Wareham, hosted by Pole Wheels.

Bayley Woodger was up against the weather but still finished eighth in his age category and 12th overall, whilst Meryn Kitching third and 14th respectively, in drier conditions.

Matt Holms travelled to Canfield to gather early points for the cyclocross season, starting 35th on the grid. He made a strong start and worked his way up to 5th in the under-16 category.
