MID Devon cyclist Robin Delve recently tackled two demanding European cycling events, both World Series World Championship qualifiers for category 65 to 69.

First, he dominated a time trial and hill climb up Luxembourg's Col de la Croix, winning by a comfortable two minutes in 30+°C heat and earning a jersey and a spot in the Australian final.

The next day, despite a late podium ceremony and early start, he faced a brutal 47-mile gravel race in Aigle, Switzerland, with 8300 feet of climbing.

He had to overcome cramping and intense heat with the course reaching 35°C, even resorting to walking at times and needing water from cattle troughs. Despite the challenges, he pushed through, catching a fellow rider, Dirk, in the final kilometres and crossing the line with him.

Robin secured another win, finishing 22 minutes ahead of his closest competitor, and earning a second new jersey for the weekend amidst spectacular scenery.
