BOVEY Tracey AFC and Buckland Athletic are in the process of completing their respective pre-season schedules ahead of a new campaign.

Both sides took on their penultimate opponents on the weekend and will now round out proceedings tomorrow night (Tuesday evening).

The Moorlanders hosted Plymouth Parkway at the Western Counties Roofing Ground on Saturday, July 18.

Amongst those playing for Parkway was tricky winger Jack Brimming, whose standout performances for Bovey last term on their way to glory earned him the move up to step three.

Brimming set up a trialist for the opener and Karl Curtis’ side went on to win 4-0 in Bovey Tracey.

Bovey’s final outing sees them play at home against Bideford AFC, of the Southern League Division One South.

Onto Buckland and after losing to Torquay United and Frome Town, the Yellows then beat a SW Peninsula League duo, without conceding a single goal.

First they dispatched local rivals Newton Abbot Spurs by two goals to nil at The Rec on Tuesday 14th before then beating Falmouth Town reserves 3-0 at Homers Heath on Saturday.

Their final pre-season game is also at home and it will be some test as they take on the aforementioned Plymouth Parkway.

Saturday, July 25, is the big date in terms of the ball getting rolling for the 2026/27 Western League campaign.

Bovey’s first ever game at this level will take place in front of their own fans as Ben Gerring’s side lock horns with Wellington AFC.

Meanwhile, the Bucks have a Devon derby on the road as they face Tavistock AFC at Langsford, the Lambs having been relegated back down to step five.

Matt Cusack will then take his group over to Bovey for a mouth-watering clash that nobody will want to miss, on Tuesday, July 28.
