CHUDLEIGH Athletic 1st and 2nd XIs scored 20 goals between them on a weekend to remember for the club.

The firsts, of the South Devon Football League Premier Division, sank Division Two side Harbertonford by 12 goals to one in the latest round of the coveted Herald Cup.

Gavin Lake notched four of their goals and was joined on the scoresheet by Sam Clarke (3), Jake Cogavin (2), George Davidson (2) and Riley Snell.

Meanwhile, their 2nd XI hosted Newton Rovers at Kate Brook for a top-versus-bottom clash in Division Four. The leaders unsurprisingly prevailed, winning 8-1 and making it 36 points from 39 available.

Returning to the top flight and there were defeats for Newton Abbot duo ’66 and Spurs 2nd XI. 66 lost 2-0 at home against Buckfastleigh Rangers whilst Spurs travelled to The Windmill and returned empty-handed, falling 6-2 to the runaway leaders.

Kingsteignton Athletic were playing against Lakeside Athletic but that one had to be abandoned due to worsening weather conditions as the game went on.

In Division One, Liverton United are having a rough time of it at the moment. After conceding 10 goals to Beesands Rovers and then seven against Barton Athletic, they shipped 12 this time around in the reverse clash with Beesands.

elsewhere, WBB won at Elburton Villa 2nds, Bovey Tracey AFC 2nds drew at Mount Gould, Newton Spurs 3rds advanced into the next round of the Fred Hewings Cup and what a week it was for Buckland Athletic 2nd XI.

The Bucks had won just one of their 10 games prior to this week and so to go on and collect six points is quite something. First, they dispatched Spurs 3rds in midweek at The Rec and then they won 2-1 at home against Watcombe Wanderers on Saturday, courtesy of five different scorers across the two outings!
