FOLLOWING the conclusion of the 2025/26 SW Peninsula League campaign, Newton Abbot Spurs have announced a notable change in the hierarchy.
The club’s recent AGM saw the decision finalised for Ross Bellotti to step down as chairman.
Bellotti, a hugely popular figure in and around Spurs, gave “more than six years of dedicated service” and has decided that now is the time for him to move on.
Also departing is 1st XI manager Marc Revell, although this news is hardly surprising. He stepped in to the fill shoes of Connor Marshall for the last few months of the season as a favour to the club, without the intention of having a lengthy second stint in the Spurs technical area.
Replacing Bellotti as chairman is Steve Elswood, whose experience includes but isn’t limited to football management, operations and club development roles at all different levels with the likes of Tiverton Town and Torquay United.
In Spurs’ club statement, Elswood paid tributes to the work of his predecessor.
“Ross has been part of the Spurs family for several seasons now and has played a huge role in getting the club to where it is today. His legacy certainly won’t be forgotten,” said Elswood.
He continued: “However, I believe now’s the right time to move the club forward by introducing new processes both on and off the pitch, strengthening our communication with the community and ensuring the club remains at the heart of the town.”
The first task on Elswood’s agenda is appointing a new manager to pick up where Marshall and Revell left of.
“It’s a fantastic opportunity for a manager to come in at a time where we are building a clear project with defined aims and new structures.
“We hope to have further news on the appointment very shortly,” he added, so stay tuned for some exciting updates about the future of Newton Abbot Spurs.
