TEIGNMOUTH Golf Club held their sixth senior Club Championships on June 9 and 10 with 62 players taking part.
The course benefited from heavy rain over the prior weekend which was much needed after two exceptionally dry months.
Simon Beasley and Bob Collier led the way after day one, shooting 76 each, as only seven players managed to break 80. Bob’s Nett 63 was the best at the turn, ahead of Les Molloy on 66.
In dramatic circumstances, defending champion Colin Papworth retained his crown by shooting a superb 72, one shot ahead of Simon Beasley’s 153 total.
A consolation for Simon though was the Nett prize, rounds of 68 and 69 leaving him at five under. Bob Collier (138) and Peter Early (139) came next).
The winners should have received their respective trophies but unfortunately, they were stolen back in April and have yet to be replaced.
