Kings Boxing Academy were in London to test out their latest youth boxer Mikey Chavanga (70kg).

The hosts were Pedro ABC in Hackney who are in the forefront of the fight against knife crime and have the support of many boxing champions and celebrities.

The theme was very Caribbean and Team Kings were well warmly greeted, but it was strictly business for coach Chris Rattenbury and 15-year-old Chavanga.

Chavanga’s opponent had called him out weeks ago but had to cancel due to an injury but they kept their promise and settled the score in the ring on Saturday.

Chavanga used his long-range to jab off 16-year-old Alex Dakaj (71kg) from Hemel Hempstead, but Dakaj pushed forward and used rough tactics to try to break down the Kings boxer.

At times Dakja had success and pinned Chavanga to the ropes, swinging wild unorthodox punches but once back on the canvas Chavanga kept at range, picking shots to take a unanimous points win.

While at the show Team Kings mixed with more than a dozen former boxing champions and several celebrities, including Steve Bunce, John Conteh and Colin McMillan to name a few.
