PICKLEBALL has been growing rapidly at the South Devon Tennis Centre since its introduction to the club just 18 months ago, writes Rhona Jarvis.

What began as a small offering has gone from strength to strength, with every Tuesday night mix-in session selling out and welcoming over 50 players each week.

This momentum was on full display at the recent Exeter Team Tournament, where they entered two teams in the 3.0 category — and proudly came away with both gold and silver medals.

The players showcased fantastic teamwork, skill, and spirit, solidifying the club’s reputation as a rising force in the pickleball community.

Paul Butcher, the tennis director at SDTC, has passionately driven pickleball. He was celebrating a whopping 40 years with the club and so it was a huge treat to be able to return to him with the news of this success.
