NEW Cross defeated arch-rivals Newton Abbot Spartans 26-12 in a Devon Two derby that lived up to expectations.

Both sides were full committed despite the cloying impact of atrocious conditions at Five Lanes.

Tries by captain Harry Symes and Ash Ansermoz completed the first-half scoring for New Cross. In-form Rob Pedrick added two more after the break.

Kicker Ryan Wotton did well to convert three out of four in near-monsoon conditions.

Elsewhere in this division, there were a trio of whitewashes.

Tiverton IIs scored 26 points without reply away at Bideford IIs and Sidmouth IIs put 47 unanswered points past Exeter Engineers.

On the Friday night, Okehampton IIs edged out North Tawton 12-0.

Table-topping New Cross travel to Exeter Athletic next, hoping to make it six out of six this season, whilst the Spartans will look to grab a second success of the campaign when Bideford IIs come to town.
