NEWTON Abbot are still searching for their first away win of the season in Western Counties West following a 24-21 defeat away to Torquay Athletic.

The All Whites came back from 14-0 down i1n 0 minutes into the first half to lead 21-14 in the second. The Tics got back to level terms at 21-all, then snatched victory with a late penalty from Lewis Crocker.

Torquay Athletic’s try scorers were Harvey Dent, Lloyd Penhalagan and Crocker, who also kicked three conversions and the winning penalty.

Alex Gale, Jake Monnngton and Ollie Bale were the Newton Abbot try scorers. Monnington was three out of three from the tee.

Seventh-placed Newton Abbot are at home to St Ives this Saturday, who currently sit fourth. The Tics travel to Barnstaple 2nd XV, who are one place and two points above them in the bottom half of the table.
