ATTRACTING around 1300 runners from all around the globe, the Sodbury Slog is run each year on Remembrance Sunday.

To commemorate the fallen, the event is preceded by an exhortation, two minutes' silence and the playing of the Last Post, all of which sets the scene for a very memorable day -the girls described this as incredibly moving.

Three members of FIT2Run completed the event this year, which the organisers outline as “lung-busting” and a “multi-terrain challenge.”

The route was approximately 8.5 miles this year, slightly shorter than anticipated. There was a mixture of tarmac, grass and muddy tracks and the girls had so much fun, with a lot of laughter.

They said the support was fabulous from the locals of Chipping Sodbury and they completed the challenging course in Helen Flint 1.54, Alison Richards 1.45 and Sarah Reynolds 1.45, the latter kicking off her London Marathon training.

To join F2R, a safe ladies running group, go along at 6:45pm on Tuesday or Thursday evenings at The Recreational Trust, Newton Abbot.
