TEIGNBRIDGE Trotters were out in force over the Bank Holiday weekend, with strong performances across three major events on Sunday, May 3.
The Saltash Half Marathon marked the fifth round of the club championship and at the sharp end, Donald Brooks continued his outstanding season by winning the race outright in 1:18:41, also securing first MV45.
He was closely followed by fellow Trotter George Tranckle, who claimed first M25 in 1:19:31. Ewan placed an impressive 24th overall in 1:35:52.
Age‑category successes followed, with Neil Rutley taking first MV60 in 1:52:50, and Kathryn Steemson leading the Trotters women home in 1:53:00 to claim first FV50.
Strong performances across the field included Nigel Barnett (1:54:38), Al Taylor (1:57:51), Derek Skinner (1:58:17, 4th MV60), Adam Doherty (2:01:02) and Corinne Bright, who earned 3rd FV50 in 2:01:43. Further excellent efforts came from Patricia Atkins, first FV60 in 2:11:11, Jayden Taylor, Andrew Morton, Sam Galvin (3rd FV55) and Michelle Doherty (4th FV45), rounding off a highly successful championship race.
Also on Sunday, four Merry Trotters took on the North Dorset Village Marathon. In standout form, Julian Scanes delivered a superb 3:00:58, finishing 12th overall and winning first Vet 50, while also setting a new club V55 record.
Ian Langler finished strongly in 3:24:47 (34th), Rachel Steele recorded 3:55:14, and Lucy Evans completed the quartet in 4:05:53, marking a welcome return to form following illness.
At the Exeter City Community Live Better Marathon, Olivia Mills, tackling her first ever marathon, finished 77th overall in 3:29:56 and placed 5th lady.
Ben Tampkins followed with a new PB of 3:31:01, while Alan Kember, returning after surgery, secured first MV65 in 4:01:32. Callum Price also claimed a new PB of 4:38:42.
Further successes saw Laura Holland complete her first marathon in Southampton in a very respectable time of 3:57, whilst David Taylor broke the over‑80 club 10K record at Woking on his 80th birthday – capping a record‑breaking week for the club.
