TEIGNBRIDGE Trotters have been active recently, including at East Cornwall Harriers’ Cornish Marathon, in variable weather.

Lucy Evans reported: "There were plenty of us who crossed the border to take part. The Cornish is a brilliantly organised club-run marathon and this year didn’t disappoint.

“We all received an amazing goody bag, and the marshals were incredibly supportive throughout. I was pleased with my time; the second half was hard work due to a sore back, but that’s what makes the marathon distance so special.

“It’s a true test [of] personal endurance and how you respond when things get tough.”

Results included- Jason Trevenen 3:50:52, Martin & Joanna Randall 4:16:59, Lucy Evans 4:20:53, Ruth Johnson 5:01:34, Sam Galvin 5:13:18, Dominique Harcourt 5:13:27, Sarah Blanchard 5:28:28, Sam Bryan 5:55:26, from 401 finishers.

The Bideford 10-mile road event was also well-attended and whilst there were a couple of icy showers, there were nice, sunny patches too.

Alex Sparks reported: "The finish is always tough at Bideford because it goes on forever, but all the Trotters finished really strong."

The twist in the tail was that this was 24.5 miles on road and then a final 1.5 miles down a steep, muddy track just to finish you off.

Jon Pressling raced in the Exeter City Community Trust Halloween race, a great event to blow off the cobwebs.

In perfect autumnal conditions, it started and finished at the Piazza Terracina at Exeter Canal Basin. The fun, flat and fast course took runners around the scenic route of the Exe Valley River Park.

As part of his half-marathon training, Jon took on the 10-mile route, finishing 5th overall and 2nd age group, in a great time of 62.03.

Chloe & Steve Weeks took part in the scenic Tavy 7 by Tavistock AC a long-standing road race on the edge of the moor near the old airfield and golf course.

Placing 54th and 55th in 49:45 and respectively, 4th in their age categories. In superb scenery, strong winds but a great turnout of 324 runners.
