Zara Butt, from Kingsteignton, took part in her first cross country event, at Holwell Lawn, Hound Tor, on Sunday.
Seven-year-old Zara – a Year 3 pupil at Rydon Primary School – and her horse Rosie went clear to win the 10 years and under class.
