FIRE crews from Buckfastleigh, Bovey Tracey and Ashburton dealt with a car fire following a crash at Newbridge Hill, Poundsgate, this morning (Wednesday).

A spokesperson for the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service reports: ‘crews from Buckfastleigh, Bovey Tracey and Ashburton were mobilised to car on fire following a Road Traffic Collision this morning (just after 7am).

‘Further calls reported that a person was possibly trapped in the vehicle.

‘On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that one car was well alight and quickly got crews to work to extinguish the fire using a hose reel jet and breathing apparatus.

‘Once extinguished, the Incident Commander confirmed that there were no persons inside the vehicle and so crew then assisted police to search the area for potential casualties using thermal imaging cameras.’
