Firefighters from Newton Abbot assisted their colleagues from Torquay and Paignton following reports of a kitchen fire in a Torquay property this morning (Thursday).

Crews responded to the shout in South Parks Road at around 8.45am and confirmed there had been a small fire involving the electric cooker but it was out on arrival. Crews used small tools for investigation purposes and fire caused 5% smoke damage to the kitchen.

Two casualties were treated on scene by ambulance personnel for minor smoke inhalation.
