A TEENAGE girl was sexually attacked as she made her way home in the dark late last week in Teignmouth, police have revealed.

The casualty was ‘groped and grabbed’ by a young man on Lower Brimely Road on Thursday night at 7.45pm.

Police are particularly interested in speaking to a possible witness who was putting their bin out at the time of the assault.

The 15-year-old girl was walking away from the train station when the offender pounced.

A police spokesman said this afternoon (Monday): ‘She was approached from behind by an unknown male who groped her bottom before grabbing her around the throat.’

The spokesman added: ‘The offender subsequently ran off along Lower Brimley Road in the direction of Haldon Avenue.

‘The offender is described as a white male aged in his late teens to early 20s, approximately 5ft 8ins tall and of slim build with short brown/blonde hair.

‘He was wearing a white top with thin blue stripes.’

Officers are continuing to monitor the area, secure CCTV footage and forensic evidence.

They are anxious to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time who may have witnessed the incident or seen the male offender before or after the attack.

Officers revealed there may be a witness who was putting their bins out for collection along Lower Brimley Road at the time the offender ran off.
