TWO women suffered potentially life-threatening injuries after a car crash on the A379 Teignmouth Road yesterday morning.

Police shut the busy road between Dawlish and Holcombe for five hours after the two-car collision involving a Ford Focus and Toyota Auris at 10.45am.

The driver of the Ford, a man in his 70s, sustained serious injuries and his passenger, a woman also in her 70s, suffered multiple injuries which are believed to be life-threatening.

They were both taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, where they remain.

A woman in her 80s, who was driving the Toyota, was taken to Derriford with potentially life-threatening injuries. She is still in hospital.

Police are appealing for any witnesses and anyone in the area who many have dash-cam footage.

They are also keen to speak to the driver of a white van, which was heading towards Teignmouth as they may have witnesses part of the incident.
