ACTOR Carl Fisher was in for a shock after a local beauty salon provided a head shave, body wax and spray tan to help him look good for his role in Dawlish Operatic Society's latest production. Mr Fisher is playing the King of Siam in Rodgers and Hammerstein's The King and I being staged at the Shaftesbury Theatre, Dawlish, next week. The complimentary makeover was provided by the proprietor of Cutting Edge, Dawlish, Sarah Davies, and the work undertaken by beautician Hayley Brown. Mr Fisher was delighted with the results and said he was looking forward to showing off his new look in the production. The show includes well-loved songs, a five-piece orchestra and exotic dancing and costumes. Musical director is Neville Gibbins and choreography and direction is by Pam White. It opens on Monday and runs until Saturday, May 5, nightly at 7.30. A matinee will take place on the Saturday at 2.30pm. Tickets are available from the theatre's box office from 10am to noon daily.
