A GROUP of poets in Dawlish have published their first anthology of poems.

Fourteen members of Dawlish Poetry for Pleasure, which meets every month, has put together a collection of 86 poems on themes of nature, the sea, the countryside, personal experiences and Dawlish.

Editor David Pickton said: ‘The anthology is a collection of voices, each distinct and engaging.

'They range from lyrical reflections on sea and landscape to humorous character sketches, myths, memories, and moments of everyday life.

‘These poems are heartfelt, diverse, and deeply personal.

'Each contributor offers a unique perspective, yet together they create an inclusive celebration of creativity and our own community.’

The book, titled, Poetry for Pleasure: an anthology is being launched at the Manor House in Dawlish on November 7, and will be on sale at The Teignmouth Book Fair the following day at Teignmouth Pavilions.

The Group has invited Mayor of Dawlish, Cllr Anthony James, along with other councillors to attend the launch.

Mr Pickton added: ‘We are thrilled to have internationally known writer, humourist and performance poet, Robert Garnham to kick off the celebrations with a brief set of his distinctive comedic poetry.

After the launch, the anthology will be available for sale at participating bookshops in Dawlish and Teignmouth, and through Amazon online.

Dawlish Poetry for Pleasure is a friendly, inclusive group and welcomes all who love to read, write or simply listen to poetry.
