A TOTAL of 49 Scouts and Explorers from the Teignbridge District took part in the annual Ten Tors Challenge to complete the 35, 45 and 55 mile routes visiting ten different tors over two days.
All unsupported, each team of six youngsters carried all their camping equipment and food rations, along with other mandatory safety equipment. All the teams succeeded in completing their routes with plenty of time to spare and in great spirits on the Sunday.
Dave Wainwright, Training Manager for the Teignbridge Ten Tors teams said: “Ten Tors is a wonderful event providing the young people with a unique and special opportunity.

“Our team of dedicated leaders have spent many hours patiently preparing the Scouts and Explorers to take part, but in the end it is the young people who put it all into practice. They all performed fantastically!"
There were 439 teams taking part this year, and they all experienced very good weather on Saturday to give them all ideal opportunities to navigate around their assigned routes. Sunday morning offered another dry start, but a few hours of rain in the late morning provided a final challenge which the Scouts and Explorers all rose to.
