FUN and fresh air are still on the pleasure menu throughout Teignbridge and beyond with many top attractions remaining open this weekend to relieve the tedium of coronavirus confinement.

More than 20 popular venues are happy to see visitors across the county despite anxieties over social contact with the rapacious bug.

The Devon’s Top Attractions group says 23 of its 35 members have made special arrangements to welcome visitors with safety measures in place.

A spokeswoman said yesterday (thurs): ’Many of these attractions have bigger, open sites and so are not considered to be subject to some of the government’s current guidance on social distancing. Many of the attractions feel they are well placed to provide this safety-valve during the Covid-19 crisis.’

The spokeswoman, who said 12 of its attractions were either closed or partly shut, conceded that the rapid course of events nationally may well change matters quickly.

Among the attractions still open, as of yesterday, were Pennywell Farm, near Buckfastleigh, Woodland theme park outside Dartmouth, Babbacombe Model Village, Becky Falls, Blackpool Sands and Canonteign Falls.

Some of the venues have made arrangements to restrict access to areas including cafes and other buildings.
