A FUNDRAISING campaign has been set up for a Teignmouth bar worker who died suddenly.
Lynsey Davies had worked at the Devon Arms in Northumberland Place before she died on New Year’s Ave aged 41.
She was admitted to Torbay Hospital hospital on December 22 with a viral infection and pneumonia and multi organ failure died in the intensive care unit.
She leaves a family including three daughters, two aged under 10.
A Go Fund Me page has raised more than £8,000 since it was set up.
It was initially started when Lynsey was taken ill to help her family but the campaign, which initially hoped to raise £7,000, has now turned to footing costs for her funeral.
It was announced that, after a short illness, Lynsey had passed away, leaving her ‘incredible family and three wonderful girls’.
Funds raised will be passed to the family to cover their needs in the coming months.
Daughter Taya Coleman-Davies, speaking to the Teignmouth Post, said: ‘We thought we were making progress as at one point mum was awake enough to be responsive.’
But Lynsey, who was born in Bath and moved to Teignmouth a year ago, died a week later.
Taya explained that her mum had been working both at the Devon Arms and Applebys bar in Torquay to provide for her family since moving to Devon.
Taya said: ‘She worked so hard for me and her girls.
‘She worked seven days a week, 11 hours a day.’
The fundraising page was initially set up to help with costs for Lynsey’s recovery but it is now to be used to cover her funeral costs and ongoing support for her children.
Taya said: ‘It is nice to think we have got money for her funeral and we are going to give her the biggest, extraordinary send off.’
Remaining funds will be used to support Taya and her young sisters.
The funding page was set up by Lynsey’s friend Laura Newton.
It said: ‘After a short illness, Lynsey passed away.
‘She leaves behind her incredible family and three wonderful girls.
‘This money will be passed to them for whatever they need in the months ahead.
‘We have been overwhelmed with the kindness and messages people have sent.
‘We knew Lynsey was loved but it’s incredible to see just how many people’s lives she touched.’
A spokesman for the family said: ‘Every tiny bit helps us out massively.’
Posting on social media, a family member said: ‘We would love to thank everyone’s constant support and kind wishes this past week.’
More than 200 donations have been made to help the family.
Comments from friends and family paid tribute to Lynsey.
One said: ‘I am so sorry for your loss and I am in shock.’
Another described Lynsey as a ‘lovely lady’ and another said she was a ‘bright ray of sunshine’.
Others said her death was a ‘sad loss’ and that she was going to be missed.
Tributes described Lynsey as ‘one in a million’ and a ‘true friend’.
