A MAN was taken to hospital following a road accident in Exminster last night.

Emergency services were called to reports of a vehicle colliding with a wall in Milbury Lane at about 7.20pm.

Police said one man was taken to hospital.

A spokesman said: ‘His injuries are not life-threatening and enquiries are ongoing.’

The vehicle collided with a wall at the village’s vicarage and residents were quick to help with the casualty being attended to by members of the public before the emergency services arrived at the scene.

One eye witness said: ‘I witnessed the incident.

‘What I also witnessed was several people from the village rush to the situation to help.

‘They did so with purpose, and calmly. Moreover, whilst waiting for the emergency services to arrive, several other people offered help.

‘Heartwarming to see representatives of this community drop everything without hesitation and with genuine concern to help someone in need, and without panic.’

Milbury Lane was blocked for a time as fire crews and paramedics were on the scene.

Devon Air Ambulance is understood to have been scrambled and landed at a site at Deepway.
