Students from Teign School, Kingsteignton, sixth form met Newton Abbot MP Anne Marie Morris to discuss local and national issues facing young people.
Among the topics discussed were higher education, unemployment, housing, transport funding and youth services.
The MP was said to have listened 'attentively' when questioned about the increase in tuition fees and was 'particularly reassuring' regarding the future of Devon youth services.
She said The Junction youth club in Newton Abbot was a credit to the community and there were no plans to close it.
Jonathan Hooker, 16, a senior helper at the club, said: 'I was pleased and reassured with her explanation that the youth services in Devon will be well maintained and that we are doing a good job at this present moment.'
The sixth form student union at Teign School hopes to arrange further meetings with Ms Morris.
Union president Jess Neely said: 'It was an enriching experience with a high amount of information packed into the hour period.'
