Teignmouth’s coastal watchtower at East Cliff will open its doors next Sunday (September 21) to show members of the public how the ‘Eyes Along the Coast’ works.

Members of the Teignmouth National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) will be on hand to explain what they do and will be offering tours of the lookout throughout the day.

An information desk outside the lookout will also provide information about water safety.

Teignmouth mayor councillor Cate Williams will officially open the day at 10am and the event will run until 4pm.

NCI stations are manned by volunteers who take it in turns to keep a visual and radio watch over the coast looking for anyone in potential danger. They report any coastal safety-related incidents to HM Coastguard so that expert help can be sent.
