Police have warned there may be further disorder on Teignmouth’s back beach this weekend after widespread disorder at the resort last weekend.

Devon and Cornwall Police said they had been made aware of a gathering and possible disorder in the Teignmouth area, notably on the Back Beach, on Friday and Saturday evening (May 9 and 10).

Officers are making enquiries and will be speaking to individuals believed to be involved.

‘Anti-social behaviour, disorder or violent behaviour will not be tolerated and as such we will have additional high visibility patrols in the area,’ a spokesperson from Devon and Cornwall Police said.

‘Stop searches for drugs and alcohol will also take place and we will utilise our section 35 dispersal powers if required,’ the spokesperson added.

Anyone with information that may assist police enquiries should call 101 quoting ‘log 428 of 9 May’.

Two men were arrested on suspicion of assault this week following reports that a young male was attacked by a group of four adults carrying weapons on Friday (May 2). One has been released with no further action being taken, the other released on police bail.

The incident was one of a number of incidents that took place on the back beach, which was crowded with young students celebrating their last day of school before the start of their GCSE exams.
