Teignmouth’s long-awaited new toilets are nearer fruition after the town council finally agreed lease agreements with Teignbridge District Council.
The lease agreements were signed last Thursday (May 8).
Construction of five toilet blocks will start next week.
The build will take place off-site with the completed blocks due to be installed between August and October.
The blocks will be located at the site of the former aquarium on The Den, in the Eastcliff car park, the Lower Point car park and the Quay car park.
Toilet facilities in Lower Brook Street will be refurbished.
Unlike other areas locally, the toilets in Teignmouth are run by the Town Council rather than the District Council.
Teignmouth Town Council took over the running of the public toilets in Teignmouth from Teignbridge District Council in 2014.
