A south Devon parkrun that has attracted more than 82,000 participants over the past seven years, will celebrate its 300th event this Saturday (February 21).

Since the first Teignmouth Promenade parkrun in September 2018, organisers estimate that the event has attracted more than 160,000 visitors to Teignmouth seafront, boosting local businesses.

All the businesses and members of Teignmouth Chamber of Commerce welcome the ‘buzz’ the runners and their families bring to the town,’ said Chamber chair Keith Underhill. ‘The whole town benefits, especially our independent cafes, where new and regular runners refuel.’

Teignmouth Promenade parkrun event director and founder Paul Burgess cited the dedication of more than 800 volunteers as key to the event’s ‘amazing success’. ‘Without all our volunteers, the event could not happen; they are inspiring and totally dedicated,’ he said.
