THE next named storm is approaching with an Amber warning of rain for the south west.

Storm Chandra will bring persistent rain, heavy at times, later Monday and overnight before steadily clearing northeastwards on Tuesday morning.

The warning is in place from 5pm tonight until 9am Tuesday morning.

The Met Office predicts between 30 to 50mm of rain is likely with 60 to 80 mm across some higher ground, especially south Dartmoor.

More heavy rain will be falling onto already saturated ground which is likely to lead to possible flooding and disruption, particularly on Tuesday morning.

Strong southeasterly winds are also expected.
