DAVE and Emma Saunders were bowled over by the success of a 24-hour skittles marathon at the weekend.

The event at the Keyberry Hotel, Newton Abbot, raised some £3,000 and that is going to Derriford Hospital Plymouth's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit where the couple's daughter Amelia was born on January 2.

Amelia entered the world more than three months premature and weighed in at 1lb 13oz.

Mum Emma suffered pre-eclampsia during pregnancy. 'I was rushed to Derriford under a blue light and Amelia was born at 27 weeks and two days.
