Teignmouth’s newly formed Youth Council has elected its first leadership team.
The Youth Council, which is made up of 12 youngsters aged between 10 and 15, elected Libbet as chair, Lily as vice chair and Horatio as secretary at its second formal meeting held on Tuesday (November 4).
Teignmouth Youth Council was established by mayor councillor Cate Williams earlier this year as a way of empowering young voices in the town and enabling youngsters to express their views and contribute to local decision making.
Members of the Youth Council will join Teignmouth Town councillors on Sunday at the Remembrance Day service on Teignmouth seafront.
Teignmouth Town Council congratulated the new leadership team on their election. ‘We can’t wait to see the fresh perspectives and initiatives our young leaders will bring to the community,’ a town council spokesperson said.
