Teignmouth strolled to a comfortable win against basement side Ottery, improving their goal tally in the process.

The hosts opened the scoring in the fourth minute, Geoff Breslan playing the ball wide to Ian Wilkinson on the right and his cross was slotted home by Adam Fay. Two minutes later captain Alex Blackburn capitalised on a defensive blunder to bundle the ball over the goal line to double the lead.

Teigns then added three goals in as many minutes. First Fay converted Wilkinson's driven cross, before Fay turned provider, setting up Adam Hill who netted with a rasping drive.

Fay then completed his hat-trick, chesting down Geoff Breslan's corner and volleying home from eight yards.

In the 22nd minute Ottery's keeper Strawbridge prevented Fay from grabbing the sixth and, within two minutes, denied Hill with another good stop, but Hill was soon notching his second, finishing another Wilkinson cross.

Teigns camped in their opponents' half as they tried to add to their tally.

Terry Breslan joined the attack over-lapping from fullback as did Gavin Breslan on the left, forcing the visitors back. Geoff Breslan, Wilkinson and Lloyd Gardner had complete control in the centre of the park as Teigns outplayed their opposition.

Mark Dyson saw his fierce drive blocked by Strawbridge and Hill blazed the ball over the bar before Wilkinson lobbed the ball through to Fay and Teigns' centre forward hit a blistering volley that the keeper saved.

Dyson's mazy run created space and he hit a curling shot destined for the top right corner only to see the ball palmed past the post.

Lee Haywood's forays forward created several chances and Hill should have finished Haywood's header back across the face of goal.

A great run by Gavin Breslan opened up Ottery's beleaguered defence and his accurate cross dropped invitingly for Fay, who shot wide.

As the half drew to a close Wilkinson went close, shooting just wide and heading Geoff Breslan's free-kick over the bar.

In the last minute of the half Dyson was hauled back in the penalty area, but Geoff Breslan hit the resulting spot kick wide of the post.

Darren Shrubb replaced keeper Liam Jones at half-time and Mark Richards came on for Gavin Breslan.

Ottery started the second period well and had their first attempt on goal, which did not trouble Shrubb.

In the 55th minute, Richards' accurate raking ball from the right was well controlled and dispatched by Hill for the seventh goal.

Andy Breslan came off the bench, replacing Gardner, and Teigns shuffled their formation – Wilkinson dropping deep allowing Haywood to move into midfield.

Geoff Breslan scored the eighth goal direct from a corner to make amends for his penalty miss, and two minutes later Hill scored the ninth from an acute angle after being put through by Geoff Breslan.

Shrubb then raced from his line to clear as Ottery threatened to spoil Teigns' clean sheet.

With ten minutes remaining Dyson twisted and turned through the visitors' defence to set up Geoff Breslan, who curled home his second and his side's tenth from 25 yards.

A Breslan saw his well executed strike bulging the back of the net only to have the 'goal' ruled out for off side.

Despite a game of almost one way traffic, it was Teigns' keeper Shrubb who provided one of the moments of the game, diving to his right and acrobatically turning a 30-yard strike over the bar to give Ottery their first corner of the match.

Teigns had far too much fire power and experience to have been troubled by a young Ottery side, but credit must be given to this young team that never threw in the towel and kept going to the final whistle.

Tomorrow, Teignmouth face a much sterner test when they travel to north Devon to play Appledore.
