VOLUNTEERS have been thanked for helping pitch in to clear Exminster’s wildflower verges.
They were out in force to rake away cut debris from the verge on the north entrance to the village.
A spokesman for environmental group Exminster Green Spaces said: ‘This is such an important task as it encourages the oxeye daisies and all the other flowers to come back again next year and make a great display entering the village.’
The planter was also tided up and rubbish found in the area picked up.
The verge is a valuable wildflower area in the village, particularly in spring, with primroses followed by the ox eye daisies and marsh orchids among many others.
It is intentionally left uncut over the summer but now the vegetation had been cut back and mown.
The raking was needed to maintain the wildflowers.
