CHUDLEIGH Bowling Club recently held their annual Queen Elizabeth Cup.

This trophy has been played for the last four years after Barbara Chisnell, the mother of Chudleigh member Nikki Bustin, decided she wanted to present a trophy to the club for the woman members to play for.

She called it the Queen Elizabeth Cup as her idea coincided with the death of Queen Elizabeth the Second.

It is an internal competition played in the format of three bowl pairs. Six teams took part, playing in two sections, with the top two playing each other in the final.

The winning team were Niki Bustin and Jane Slater, who shared the games with Barbara Perkiss. The unfortunate, losing pair were Penny Hale and Helen Webb.

Meanwhile, the Over 55’s Y Division is building to quite a climax. Chudleigh lead the division by five points from Bitton Park.

A win over Shaldon next week will give Chudleigh their first ever victory in the Over 55’s and they would then enter the end of season playoffs.

Only one friendly to report on when Chudleigh visited Chagford. Despite winning on three rinks and losing on one, they lost overall on the aggregate score. Despite the loss, it was a very enjoyable game on an excellent green.
