CHUDLEIGH’s trio of Kate Reader, Dave Luxton and Ann-Marie Stanley scored a very rare “Hot Shot” at the recent Torquay Open Triples.

A Hot Shot in triples is where the team score a maximum of nine points on one end. As it is such a rare event, the successful trio are rewarded with certificates and badges from Bowls International and signed by Bowls Legend, Tony Alcock OBE.

Meanwhile, the Over 55 teams had another successful week. The Y Division team, remain top of their league, following victory over a very strong Abbrook Park team.

They won on one rink, lost on the other one but won overall by a single shot, gaining six points. They now have two games to play, away at Dawlish Marina before what will probably be the game that decides the winner of the division, when they play away at Shaldon on September 2.

The X Division team also collected six points when they won on one rink, lost on another but like the Y Division team, won overall by one shot. The X Division team after a very shaky start have been in very good form, which if they had started like this, they would also be challenging to win their division.

Finally, it was confirmed this week that the Chudleigh Ladies team are promoted to Division One of the South Devon League.

This is a tremendous achievement for the relatively small Chudleigh ladies team and many congratulations go to acting captain Gill Sinden and her players.

Next season, they will have the “pleasure" of playing against the like of Kings A, Bitton Park A, Brixham A and other leading ladies teams in the South Devon League.
