LUSTLEIGH visited Dunsford for their final Dartmouth League fixture of the season on Wednesday, August 19.

The away team won the toss and decided to bat after a bit of rain had been around in the day, deciding to set the target.

Paddy Poustie and Harry Bannister took on Dunsford opening bowlers. Paddy typically moving the score on quickly- reached 28 and retired, Bannister with a couple of flurry’s but fell for three.

John Wright was next in and quickly got to task, hitting five boundaries on his way to 27, whereas Ed G was out for one.

Duncan Chapman and Matt Pearce then had the middle overs and both retired on 26 apiece.

Ben Payne-Hunt and Ollie Blakeman guided Lustleigh to a final total of 164.

Dunsford in reply were quick to try and take on the Lustleigh openers of Dave Saxton and Alex Spring- Saxton bowling quick and aggressively to take two wickets from four overs.

Chapman and Blakeman then bowled four overs each and took two further wickets between.

With the home side then building up a head of steam, Ollie Poustie claimed three wickets and Ben Payne-Hunt two to set up a dramatic finish.

Dunsford required 14 to win the match from the final over so to score two runs, then six and then four was a perfect start.

Two much-needed dot balls followed and with the final attempt sailing towards the boundary, Ollie Blakeman caught well to secure Lustleigh the victory by a single run.

This fantastic result sees Lustleigh finish second, taking them into the final two clash on finals day (September 5) against Chagford.

Ollie Poustie earned the man of the match plaudits for his 4-wicket haul and final-over heroics.
