Teignmouth Open men’s singles champion and Devon star Ryan Whitlock was honoured at the Bowls England awards evening, where he picked up the England U25 player of the year award.

A fine summer for the Shaldon player saw him win three-inter county team titles with Devon and also the national mixed fours.

‘It is just an absolute honour to be named young player of the year and, hopefully, I can push on from this and achieve more success with Devon and England once again,’ said the Waitrose employee.
