IPPLEPEN 2nd XI fell to a six-wicket defeat at the hands of unbeaten D Division West leaders Chagford.

Josh Perry’s patient 26 off 61 balls – five fours, lots of dots – was the best Pens’ batters could muster in a total of 131 all out.

Losing four wickets getting from 42 to 56 – two of them to Luca Pedrochi (2-27) – wiped out the middle order.

James Sharman (3-16) ended Perry’s vigil during the tidying-up operation at the end.

Chagford knocked off the runs with more than 17 overs to go. Chris Jelley (37no) shared stands of 48 and 34 respectively with James Wotton (23) and Ted Gossett (17no) that settled the issue.

Meanwhile, the Ipplepen 1st XI extended their lead at the top of the C Division Wicket, dispatching Plymouth by seven wickets.

Plymouth were all out for 181 with a fraction more than five overs to go, Opener Andy Birkett top scored on 69 and in the process went through 500 league runs for the season.

Aziz Rahmanzai was next best on 36, entirely made during a second-wicket stand of 57 with Birkett.

Once Birkett was fifth out to Pens’ seamer Jono Colegate (2-36), Plymouth list their last five wickets for 25 runs.

Plymouth College student Warrick Green had two for 33, which left Henry Alsop (4-22) to fire out the stragglers.

Ipplepen lost wickets at eight, 54 and finally 76 as they cruised to victory with more than 12 overs to go.

Marcus Gadie (26) and Jamie Ingram (54no) got the tally up to 54 for two, which left Colgate (13) and Green (66no) to polish off the rest. Green and Ingram put on 109 unbroken to win it.

Elsewhere, South Devon finally hit rock bottom in the C Division West when they lost by 115 runs at Brixham.
