LOCAL football fans will be plotting their movements for next season already with step-five duo Bovey Tracey AFC and Buckland Athletic recently confirming their respective pre-season schedules.

As if the Jewson Western League wasn’t tasty enough last term, the addition of Peninsula League East champions Bovey not to mention Tavistock AFC and Brixham AFC coming back down into the division as well, sets up a fascinating battle for 2026/27.

Starting with the Moorlanders then and they will reconvene on Saturday, July 4, taking on Ipplepen Athletic of the Devon Football League at South Devon College.

Following that, Ben Gerring’s side will visit 25/26 Western League champions Barnstaple Town at their Mill Road home (Tues 7) before they face a local derby clash with a new-look Newton Abbot Spurs at Coach Road (Sat 11).

After those three games on the road, Bovey will complete the pre-season slate with a trio of fixtures back at the Western Counties Roofing Ground.

Their guests are Middlezoy Rovers (Tuesday 14), Plymouth Parkway (Saturday 18) and Bideford AFC (Tuesday 21).

Moving onto the Bucks and they will also be in action on July 4, continuing their partnership with Torquay United by welcoming the Gulls to Newton Abbot for what is becoming an annual fixture.

Before that though, they make the trip to Coombe Valley to face Teignmouth AFC on July 1.

Matt Cusack’s men make the very short trip to meet Newton Abbot Spurs at the Rec on Tuesday 14 amongst a home triumvirate.

They will play Frome Town (Sat 11), Falmouth Town reserves (Sat 18) and Plymouth Parkway (Tues 21), all at The VX3 Stadium.

In other news, whilst Ryan Bush and Jack Baxter have committed to at least another year in yellow, Buckland announced on Monday, May 25, that experienced defender Myles James would be moving on this summer.
