TEIGNMOUTH AFC and Bovey Tracey AFC both tasted victory in the South West Peninsula League on Saturday, November 1.
They got the new month underway with three points apiece, Teignmouth beating Torridgeside AFC at home and Bovey winning away at Ilminster Town.
Harry Breslan notched a brace at Coombe Valley and was joined on the scoresheet by Zak Khadaroo in a 3-0 success for Teignmouth.
This, a fourth league win of the campaign, has Liam Jones’ side on 12 points. They sit 14th and are now in striking distance of Torrington AFC in the standings, a team whose number they’ve had this year.
Bovey meanwhile had five different scorers in their 5-0 win over Ilminster, their 12th of the season.
Ollie Aplin was the first to strike and goals came next from Cieran Bridger, Louie Roberts, Levi Landricombe and last but not least, Jack Brimming.
Their goal tally now sits at 49 with a goal difference of +44 and a running points tally of 37.
There was a chance for the Moorlanders’ advantage at the top to increase with second-placed Bridport FC visiting fourth-placed Cullompton Rangers but the Dorset-based side held strong, securing an impressive 2-1 win at Adopstar Park.
Meanwhile, third-placed Newton Abbot Spurs had the weekend off and Stoke Gabriel & Torbay Police, who sit fifth, smashed eight beyond rock-bottom Axminster Town.
There were also wins for Ilfracombe Town and Okehampton Argyle, both of whom were at home.
Looking ahead to next weekend and whilst it’s Teignmouth’s turn to enjoy a free Saturday, Spurs have a league outing and Bovey are in FA Vase action.
Spurs will be at The Rec, taking on a Cullompton team who could go above their hosts with a victory. On the other hand, Connor Marshall’s men could move five points clear of them.
For Bovey, they have a tough tie with step five high-flyers Corsham Town. The Quarrymen sit fourth in the Hellenic League Premier and will make the trip from Wiltshire to the Western Counties Roofing Ground.
Equally, Bovey dismissed a step five side previously in the form of Torpoint Athletic, before then overcoming Radstock Town, so they’ll fancy their chances of another impressive victory.
