A total of 59 pairs took part in Dainton Park Golf Club, Newton Abbot, team turkey trot – a threequarter-handicap, four-ball better-ball competition played over 18 holes.
There were seven temporary greens in use due to frost, which made scoring a little easier than normal.
The winning pair scored a staggering 49 points.
Matt Porosa (h'cap 13) and Tom Davis (12) dovetailed perfectly on the front nine, with Davis doing most of the damage to produce 25 points, which included five three-pointers and a fantastic eagle from Porosa on the ninth for four points.
They did not slow down on the back nine, scoring another four three-pointers and a four-pointer thanks to a run of three birdies from the 14th to the 16th.
Runners-up were Nathan Brown (one) and Mikey Penlington (eight), their round of 48 points including no four-pointers but 12 three-pointers.
Brown carded a magnificent eight gross birdies, coupled with two from Penlington, and a few well played holes, they managed 23 going out and 25 coming back.
In third place were Rob Frost (seven) and Steve Smith (nine) also with a score of 48.
Fourth were Mike Tufrey (eight) and Mick McCarter (ten) with 47 points, fifth Tom Cross (17) and Bob Groves (15) with 46.
