The Rotary Newton Abbot is teaming up with the Mid-Devon Advertiser to offer £1,000 to Newton Abbot Youth sports clubs.

The Rotary team has, over the last few months, been active in supporting many Covid 19 impacted charities and organisations and are conscious many others have been affected particularly grass roots sport.

There is no stipulation on what type of sports apply or gender, it is open throughout Newton Abbot and the surrounding area, though they must be based in post codes TQ12 & TQ13 to qualify.

Applications must be returned by Friday, November 19.

A panel of three Rotarians and editor Nick Knight will evaluate the entries and pick the 10 successful applicants.

Winners will be listed on the club website and in the Mid-Devon Advertiser.

Rotarian Nick James explained that the Rotary club are offering 10 grants of £100 to youth sport clubs in Newton Abbot.

Editor Nick Knight said: ’As a former judo coach I know how much many of my old colleagues in the sport have struggled to keep their sport alive.

’Many of them are only just beginning to get their clubs back up and running again.

’Grants like these from our local Rotary Club are a lifeline to our local sports clubs after the disruption of the pandemic.

’It’s a fantastic gesture from our local Rotarians and the Mid-Devon Advertiser is delighted to be supporting this.’

The grants will be split into five awards to Under 10 age groups and five awards to Under 16 age groups.
