Newton Abbot All Whites may not have enjoyed the best of starts to their campaign, but showed at Brixham that they retain the ability to mix it with the best in the league, writes Gordon Hooper.
Going into this match Brixham had only lost one of their five starts, but if Will Castleton’s last kick conversion from wide-out had gone over it would have been two defeats.
Newton had trailed throughout, but had kept in touch with penalties kicks and thought they should have gone ahead in the 18th minute via a Dean Avery try from a catch-and-drive ploy.
However, the referee had spotted foul play, which meant Brixham were able to relieve the pressure.
